I wanted this due to the cover looking interesting, however for a 1st issue it was very underwhelming. I found many parts to be boring so I won't be grabbing the 2nd issue. Art work was really nice and neat. ( ) When Joe Hill gets it, he gets it. And Basketful of Heads is Joe Hill getting it. Horror always works best when the reader is pulled into the world enough to give a shit about the characters. The reader doesn't have to necessarily like the characters, but they should give a shit. So, in this first issue, Joe starts throwing characters at you, but he gives them time to live and breathe, and allows the reader to start digging them. It's only in the last couple of pages that he then starts to screw with them. To some, this will be a slow start to the story, but to me, this is something that, lately, I don't see much in first issues. The writer and artist are trying so hard to grab the reader with story that they cram three issues of information into one issue. Joe? Yeah, he gets it. Good start to the series. Not quite sure what to make of this yet. It's only the first single issue comic in the series. I liked it and I liked the graphics-enough so to continue on with the series. *I bought this comic with my hard earned cash.* Read 12.19.19. (Removing dates read from GR, so this doesn't count towards my reading goal for the year.) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
