Professor Calculus has invented a machine that can duplicate anything and Rastapopoulous tries to lure Calculus and Tintin away by kidnapping two children. I saw this movie many times as a child and read the book just as many times (the book is an adaptation of the film) and it's one of my favorite books, but I can't tell whether it's because it's high quality or if it's because I'm nostalgic about it. Highly enjoyable regardless. ( )

Le professeur Tournesol vient de mettre au point une invention permettant de reproduire n'importe quel objet à volonté. Tintin, Milou et le Capitaine Haddock vont s'opposer à l'infâme Rastapopoulos qui, très intéressé par cette découverte de Tournesol veut s'en servir à des fins douteuses. ( )

Professor Calculus has developed a 3D photocopier, but fears that unidentified crooks, related to a series of art forgeries, are planning to steal it. To prevent this, he has hired the detectives Thomson and Thompson as bodyguards, and also invited his friends Tintin and Captain Haddock to his rented villa in Syldavia, on the shores of the artificial Lake Flechizaff. Soon enough, mysterious things start to happen...

It is hardly surprising that this album, with competent but uninspired art by Bob de Moor, was one of the reasons why Hergé decided not to let anyone continue Tintin after his death. The story in all its silliness just about works as a film; as a comic strip, it's flat, much too clearly adapted from another medium, and slightly wooden. ( )

Et sted i udlandet, ca 1975-
En perle ombyttes med en tro kopi på et havbiologisk museum. Journalisten Tintin og Kaptajn Haddock og detektiverne Dupond og Dupont er på vej til Klow i Syldavien, da flyet rammes af motorproblemer og styrter ned. De reddes af to børn, et søskendepar ved navn Niko og Nutsjka. Børnene advarer dem mod Villa Sprok, som er deres bestemmelsessted og hvor Professor Tournesol venter dem. Han udspioneres imidlertid, måske af de samme som forfalsker kunstgenstande og perler? Tintin og hunden Terry forfølger et spor efter en mystisk frømand og finder en hule med kunstgenstande i. Banditterne bortfører børnene og forsøger at afpresse Tintin til at skaffe dem Tournesols planer. Operasangerinden Bianca Castafiore giver en hånd med for at aflede banditternes opmærksomhed. Bagmanden viser sig at være Rastapopoulus og han er tæt på at vinde denne gang. Indespærret i den undersøiske base med en bombe, slipper Tintin og børnene lige akkurat fri i tide og Rastapopoulus bliver sat i fængsel. Castafiore får den sidste sang.

Albummet er ikke ret godt og det er da heller ikke skrevet af Hergé ( )
