This is a book that would be good to share with students when it is there birthday. It teaches them that the most important thing on their birthday is being with friends, not materialistic things. I also did an extensive vocabulary lesson with this book and I think it went really well.

Cute illustrations and sweet story, but the text is way too long. Also, I'm not a huge fan of kids books where someone else solves the main character's problem. But another book by this author is GREAT: Monster Hug. Check that one out instead! ( )

This is a really cute children's book about the meaning of friendship. The book tells the story of cowboy Ned and his loyal horse Andy, and Andy's attempt to find a cake for Ned's birthday. The art is folksy and beautiful and the story teaches children the importance of friendship and its value over material items. ( )
