Edward Elric is one of my heroes. I can say with absolute sincerity that this manga, the first anime and Brotherhood are ALL top favs. And this is where it began. Father Cornello, Lt. Yoki & Bald. No Winry or Hughes yet, but Lust & Gluttony say hi. AND RIZA OF COURSE. I don't really like what the story preaches so far. The manga doesn't enhance my appreciation of science, but strengthens views of science as an exceptional lethal force. I believe that view is very male-centered and self-entitled. I will give credit that it made me think more critically than the other Shonen I have read. The episodic nature of every chapter threw me off too as I didn't expect that coming off my first impressions of the show. - The Church is a scheme that science can easily debunk. The Church will protect their scam by any means necessary. The Church uses their scam to gain wealth and power from the populace. - Science can explain the world better than God. But, to emulate God is a dangerous game. To be a scientist is a path made by those bold and curious enough to venture in the unknown so that the ignorant may rest comfortably. - As a religious believer, facing the truth that science understands the world better than God can be challenging. But, through willpower and sovereignty, one can overcome and accept this mental reformation. - Excessive taxation is evil (coal town). It's only meant to line the pockets of government officials. The reason this process is excused is because the town's implied "social contract" suggests the people's protection of rights vs. amount taxed is equal, but it's clearly not. - There's a relationship between the military, science, and law enforcement as they branch from the government. Science may be the most important as it enhances the efficacy of the other branches.

As young boys, Edward & Alphonse Elric dabbled in alchemy to try to resurrect their dead mother. As a result, Ed lost one arm and one leg, while Al lost his entire body and had his spirit sealed into a suit of armor. Now, they are searching for the fabled Philosopher's Stone to restore what they've lost. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
