Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. Overall I really enjoyed My Song's Curse. While demons, gods, and sirens aren't new territory in the books I ready Minnix does a great job keeping the characters and mythology fresh and interesting. Lula is a character you can relate to without seemingly overly Mary Sue-esque, which could have easily happened. Alex and his friends are tons of fun to read about. I'll definitely be waiting for book two.Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I think I've got a case of godlust now...Overall this book was fabulous! Sirens, demigods, otherworldlings...I'm sold! Sign me up for the next book already. The two POVs flowed well with each other, alternating chapters. I enjoy when multiple POVs are used as it adds a nice depth to the story line, then I don't feel like I'm missing anything. The banter between both Alex and Lu is great, I really enjoyed the course of their relationship. Now, the nitpicky stuff. The writing felt...clunky at times. I felt like I was tripping while trying to run over the words of this story because the anticipation made me want know what happened next. I just wish the writing was more...seamless. Now, I know I said I enjoyed the course of Alex and Lu's relationship and I did! BUT, how many times do they really need to go back and forth? No, I just can't! Oh wait, yes I can! No...I can't! It was really the worst part for me. Thankfully, they got over that! With all that said, I am definitely looking forward to the next book :) Thank you LibraryThing and City Owl Press for providing me an advanced e-copy to read and review honestly. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Ultimate control has its downside, especially when it comes to romance. But will it be enough to keep them together? As a siren Lula Aglaope can bend anyone to her will with the smallest whisper, but she'd give up her power for one meaningful, honest conversation. She wants a normal life, like the open, true connections the humans seem to pull off with such little effort. When she meets Alexiares, God of Warding off Wars, all thoughts of normalcy fly out the window. The beautiful demigod cannot be controlled He's frustrating, irresistible...and utterly off-limits. Alex has watched Olympus slowly fall apart. The old gods continue their archaic control of the Universe, denying the progress of humans and other deities. But Alex has plans to repair the damage, and Lula is a major player. She just doesn't know it yet.Falling for her is the worst idea. And just when things move in the right direction, danger arises that no one expects, plunging the sirens into the deadly Olympian spotlight. With Lula's sisters missing, and a pile of broken laws surrounding them, will Alex and Lula change the Universe for the better or destroy it?If you like Kevin Hearne, Molly Harper, and Shannon Mayer, you'll love this fun paranormal romance steeped in mythology Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Where it fell a little short for me was in the development of the secondary and tertiary characters, like Lula’s siren sisters. So much of the story hinges on Lula’s relationship with them, but I really didn’t feel like I ever got to know them. That made it difficult for me to emotionally connect with Lula later in the story.
As a whole, though, I would definitely recommend this book for anyone who enjoys light fantasy novels. ( )
