This is a story about a boy who does everything before he goes to school. He goes to the dentist he goes shopping and so much more. He is starting kindergarten and he does not like everything he has to do but in the end he has a good day. This book follows the story of Archie, a little boy starting school for the first time who is less than enthused. His mom makes him go to the doctor and dentist for checkups and makes him get new clothes and a haircut but he still doesn't want to go. He runs away to live with his dog Clyde, but had to come inside for dinner. He ends up going to school and enjoying himself. And no one made him. This makes me think of the series about David. David Goes to School. David gets in trouble. David's not a bad kid, he's just rebellious. I can remember having my own apprehensions about school but I ended up loving it, much like Archie did. I think to extend this book we could draw pictures of us getting ready for school. What kind of things did we have to do to get ready like Archie? We also could have circle time and play hot potato. When the music stops, whoever holding the potato could say something their parents "made" or "makes" them do. We could then talk about how important those things are (brushing teeth, going to school, etc.) And we could read in the Bible about obeying our parents as well. Every child would get a turn. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
