I liked Jacobs but I wasn't sure I really cared enough to read his story. But I really loved the first book in the series - it was well written and funny and adorkable so why not give this a go. And I'm so freaking glad I did. This book is AMAZING. Jacobs and Beck are hysterical and sexy and totally swoonworthy. I adored Foster and Zach but I think I loved Jacobs and Beck even more. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. They were just perfect. The buildup from enemies to lovers to friends to boyfriends was done really well, weaving together the transitions so seamlessly that it felt very real and had me completely invested. There were so many parts that had me chuckling to myself or laughing outright. I loved that when they did come out to the team all their teammates were so supportive. I loved Cohen's realisation about his sexuality - I can't wait to read his story. This one though was just well written, sexy, adorable and hilarious. 5 stars. I thought this was really cute! I remember feeling pretty middle of the road about book one but I'm glad I picked up this because I really enjoyed seeing the relationship develop between Jacobs and Beck. There isn't really a lot of plot in this. Not even really a lot of hockey because this takes place mostly during the summer. I didn't mind this, though I was sort of expecting the competition to be captain to take up more of the plot. The main focus was definitely on the relationship. Sometimes, this can bore me because I do like some plot in my romances but I didn't mind it here because I liked the relationship a lot. I did like the discussion around life after college. I like that this series isn't just making it so everyone somehow ends up in the NHL. It makes it much more realistic and interesting for me. The relationship between Jacobs and Beck starts out in a sort of rivals-to-lovers situation, which I think is different from enemies-to-lovers because they don't actually hate each other really, their just competing and Jacobs is a bit annoyed by Beck's whole rich kid things. I just thought the way they realized their feelings was super cute. I loved the banter and I liked the way they really worked to communicate with each other, rather than just making assumptions. I always like when that thread is done well and I really liked it here. By the end, they really did seem like partners, which is what I always want to see in a romance. This was super cute. I continue to really enjoy Eden Finley's books and I may have to pick up something by James to see if I also like those books. I'm not super interested in Cohen's story so I may skip that, but I will definitely continue to read these authors. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)CU Hockey (2)
JACOBS: For the last three years, I've lived and breathed hockey with one goal: team captain. There's only one thing standing in my way. TJ Beckett. Beck is irresponsible and immature, and I've hated him since the moment we met freshman year. Yet, the coaches see something in him I obviously can't, and they refuse to choose between us. The captain spot is going to a team vote. And the team thinks that what we need are a bunch of challenges to prove our worth. Challenges that have nothing to do with hockey. Challenges that are throwing me and Beck together. And he's still as infuriating as ever. BECK: I have no idea why Christopher Jacobs hates me, and I can't say I care. I like pushing his buttons, but the guy needs to loosen up. I'm going to win these stupid challenges easily and spend my senior year as hockey king on this campus. Tormenting Jacobs at the same time will just be a bonus. Even if I'm getting confusing feelings toward him, I won't let it hold me back. When it comes to competing, I'm all in, and nothing will get between me and the W. Contains mature themes. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

They get their HEA with each other and family and the journey to get there is well written and nicely paced.
This can be read as a standalone but really you need to read Book 1 as well! ( )
