This book reminded me of the role reversals like in Amy Krouse Rosenthal's books. The little boy speculates what his mom and dad do while he is at the grandparents home. He figures they do all sorts of things from jumping on the bed, dressing up the dog, eating tons of junk food, and doing all the things kids think they would like to do if allowed. Humorous book. ( ) This book is about parents who are home alone while their children visit their grandparents. The children wonder what the parents do when they are not around. The main message of this book is to discuss family in a humorous way. I really enjoyed this book! One thing that I really liked about this book was that on each page there was an illustration of the parents doing crazy things at their house and there was also a smaller illustration in the corner of what the kids were doing at their grandparents’ house. One of the children narrated the story, so I liked that we got to see what they were doing while we also got to see what the children thought the parents were doing. A second thing that I really liked about this book was that the kids took on parental attitudes. The child who narrated said things that parents would typically say about their children. For example, the child said “No wonder we never find matching socks,” “don’t tell me the dog’s on the bed,” and “they probably spoiled their appetite.” geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
While two children spend the night at Grandma's, their parents do all the things the children are forbidden from doing, like jumping on the bed with their shoes on, dressing up the dog, and getting crumbs all over the bed sheets. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
