This is quite a departure from the Shift series due to characters and storyline that demonstrate far more humanity, quirks along with a dash of comedy. A pet rock, alien dog and even a love interest add to the sci-fi story that's fun, surprising and very enjoyable. It's a quick read that's highly recommended if you're a fan of Hugy's books. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"For centuries, men and women have manned lighthouses to ensure the safe passage of ships. It is a lonely job, and a thankless one for the most part. Until something goes wrong. Until a ship is in distress. In the twenty-third century, this job has moved into outer space. A network of beacons allows ships to travel across the Milky Way at many times the speed of light. These beacons are built to be robust. They never break down. They never fail. At least, they aren't supposed to. "-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

you are missing something really big like a full chapter or three. The Rocky story is really hard to figure out if this is simply the MC losing his mind or if he's a real thing.... its weirdly morbid in strange moments as well. I don't know, I think I'm just really glad this wasn't the first book of Howey's that I picked up because it's likely I wouldn't read any others with how this one was written. ( )
