Wednesday's dream is to become an entrepreneur and make lots of money. She is bursting with ideas and has engaged her best friend Charlie and little brother Mister as business partners. However her impetuous actions often mean she is not considering the consequences and her Secret Keeper business idea lands her in the principal's office. Wednesday is a lively and enthusiastic character with an activist streak. Her animated voice and outsized personality bodes well for future volumes in the series. Wednesday Wilson is precocious, driven, self-assured, and resourceful. She's a great role model for young readers. Although she does make a few questionable choices, her intentions were good and she learns from her mistakes, making her realistic and relatable. I love the diversity of characters, LGBTQ+ representation, and strong female protagonist. The pace is quick enough to keep young readers interested, with plenty of kid humor to keep them laughing. The illustrations are adorable and just the right amount of picture support for young readers. The book is listed for 6-9 year old readers. The readability is a bit high for most 6 and 7 year olds, but they'll enjoy listening to the story read aloud. In fact, this would make a wonderful read-aloud and discussion in a first or second grade classroom. Older chapter book readers (8+) will be better able to read the book independently. I received a copy of the ebook from the publisher via netgalley in exchange for an honest review. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
"There are many things Wednesday Wilson would like you to know about herself. But chief among them is that she is an entrepreneur. Wednesday hasn't actually started any businesses yet, but she's pretty sure today is the day. That's why she's so excited for you to read her book! You'll get to know her before she makes it big! She's also pretty excited for you to get to know all the awesome people in her life: her moms, her little brother Mister (yes: Mister -- it's a long story), and her best friend Charlie. In Wednesday Wilson Gets Down to Business, Wednesday's entrepreneurial plans hit a wrench thanks to a lunchtime Pizza Incident. But necessity is the mother of invention, and the Pizza Incident might be just the catalyst she needs to hatch a Brilliant Plan! A Brilliant Plan that saves the day and makes them all millionaires. Or ... not."-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

However, an idea is just the beginning, and Wednesday will need to band together with her little brother and friends
if she's going to deliver the product in time. Chock-full of business vocabulary and important life lessons, this
hilarious read is sure to please.
