Another solid entry in the Covert One series, in this instalment a revolutionary technology has been invented by a reclusive ex-East German scientist which has the potential to change society. Yet questions about it's origins and true capabilities begin to arise the more our characters look into it. The action takes place throughout East Germany in the past, and in the present America, North Korea & Europe. The quality of these latter series novels is definitely much better than the earlier ones, and well ahead of the low point of book 4. If new to the series I'd say read 1 then skip 2,3,4 going straight to 5. Pretty good extrapolation of wearable technology. I had to suspend my understanding of the brain machine interface to get past the hand waving of how the connection work, with quotes such as, 'and then I thought, why not connect directly to the brain?'. But, this is SciFi. And a Covert One story, so the main premise is about the strife within government agencies on how to apply this technology. I can't see the government ever saying, 'OK, we will allow you to hook your device directly to our soldier's brains, and allow you direct access to the software, and allow you to lock us out of the core code.' But all in all, this was a fun read. A good book by Kyle Mills. This is another Covert 1 story following Col. Jon Smith. The story is about a rich scientist who decides to eliminate the bad people in the world who cause so much of the pain, death, and destruction. He develops a new device similar to the smart phone that can communicate directly to the brain. You can control the phone by using your brain. He offers it to the US military on an exclusive basis. Col. Smith is in charge of the testing and development of the military capabilities. As part of the research and other findings of the research and development of the device leads Col. Smith to investigate the unit and the scientist. Can't say much more without giving away the plot. If you like your thrillers mixed with some fantasy science gadgets, this is the book for you. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
