Red Ryan is the guard that rides along with the stage driver, Buttons Muldoon, to the designated destination. Red is a tough man in a fight whether it is with fists or something else, and he takes his job seriously. The tale begins not in the West but in London where a Burke Forester is sent to meet a Mr. Walzer to complete an arrangement for his employer. Burke is able to defend himself when confronted at the dock by three assailants. When he meets with Mr. Walzer and completes the transaction, Burke believes he is heading back home to Texas, but Mr. Walzer may have other plans for him.
Red and Buttons are taking the stage filled with four monks, a young lady named Augusta Addington, and the town drunk to Fredericksburg. When they arrive in Fredericksburg, these passengers are likely to meet again but in ways readers cannot image. The town drunk has to leave on this stage because he has been a nuisance to the town, and they are done with him believing he can’t be of any use at all. When the various threads of the story and various characters come together in Fredericksburg, the ordinary town just might have the air filled with gun smoke!
There are four novels in the red Ryan series: Riding Shotgun, The Backstabbers, and Bullet For A Stranger before ending the series it appears with A Quiet Little Town. The books are action driven stories with colorful characters and breath-taking suspense. Buttons Muldoon is man who loves to drive a stage out of a town with great fanfare, and Red is a man who lives by his sense even when it might lead to trouble. The series has been exciting to read from start to what appears to be the last book in Red Ryan western series, and it ends with full climactic moments as when it started. Is this the End of Red Ryan action and adventures, stay tuned!
