Sadly, the sequel lacks almost all the magic of "The Price You Pay." It is a bit too over the top, more satirical, and it never shocks or surprises. > Agent Hannah rattatatas and Agent Hannah’s flunkies ratatatatatatat and then up on the bridge more people ratatatatata down at us and this is very fucking un-Swiss and it should not be allowed. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Jack Price (2)
"Jack Price is back, and this time he and his Seven Demons are taking on the bank heist of the century. Have an impregnable bank fortress you need robbed? Just call Jack and the Seven Demons. There's Doc, a sexy mad scientist with anger issues; Rex, an explosives expert who doesn't ask too many questions, Volodya, a Ukrainian assassin who may or may not be a cannibal; Charlie, a tech genius with an anarchist bent; Lucille, whose speciality is razor-edged hugs; Fred, a head on a stick; and of course, Jack himself, former coffee-magnate turned cocaine dealer turned head of the most-feared international crime syndicate. They'll get the job done at any price--come rain, or wind, or snow, or untimely death. The demons are nothing if not professional, but if you try to double-cross them and, say, send a blond, lederhosen-wearing, rosy-cheeked kid named evil Hansel to take out their leader... well, let's just say the Demons can be pretty creative when it comes to revenge"-- Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

The story offers a lot of entertaining dialogue, often featuring the distinctive exchange of double-quoted ellipses as a conversation reaches an absurd impasse. Jack has some awesome pillow talk with the global science felon who is his not-girlfriend (87-9) and delivers a not-unrelated monologue on the art of cunnilingus (180-1).
The prior book The Price You Pay was so amusing and sui generis that I was prepared for a certain level of disappointment here. Nevertheless, Seven Demons made me LOL all the way down to my crime testes on a regular basis. I will not be surprised to see another book after this one of Jack Price just trying to get along in the world, and I will gladly read it.
