Little Red Riding Hoods mother tells her she needs her to take some food to Granny because she is sick. While she is on her way, she runs across a wolf. She tells the wolf that she is headed to Granny’s house and the wolf runs ahead of her and eats Granny. The wolf waits for Little Red Riding Hood to show up and when she finally arrives, she is suspicious as to why Granny’s features are so big. She asks why they are this way and the wolf attacks her. Little Red Riding Hood runs away screaming and the woodcutter kill’s the wolf and also save’s Granny.
Personal Response:
I personally remember as a child being scared of this book because of the wolf and how mean it was. Now it obviously doesn’t scare me, but I’m not too sure that I would recommend it to any student’s just because of the amount of violence in it. It’s definitely not one of my favorites.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1.It would be a fun idea to play a “Little Red Riding Hood” matching game with all the characters.
2.It would also be fun to pack our own baskets and have a picnic on the playground for lunch.
