This is the fifth of Meyer's six-volume translation of Ibsen that dominated the 20th century. While the language can occasionally seem stilted now, this is primarily out of Meyer's sympathetic and subtle understanding of how Ibsen worked in his era. The plays themselves still read very strongly, and Meyer remains a vital figure in bringing Ibsen to modern audiences.

These are two of Ibsen's earlier plays, written before he had entirely hammered out his definitive theories on drama. This perhaps makes them less likely to be popular now, but it does mean that they're surprisingly mainstream and well-paced. Fascinating reading for Ibsen-philes, although the first three volumes in the series contain the plays you're more likely to come across. ( )
