Ress a commoner falls in love with prince Tarquin of New Parthia and during a double wedding with their close friends the wood elves Eldahir and Morganna the wedding party is attacked. Reminds me of some families I know. I guess brothers, cousins, and so forth always fight each other and together. Kind of a 'new' twist on things but still clearly the same as usual. (

This book had some cool concepts in the world building, and some decent action scenes. However, I thought the plot was not that interesting, and I never cared about the characters. I was bored for most of the book. It feels like an action movie, cool fights, but little in plot or character. If you like those movies, you might like this. (

I tried. I really tried. The writing was so wooden that nothing would stick in my head. It was like a news report by an emotionally deadened anchor. The premise had so much promise. Was this telling and not showing? I couldn't say. But it was lacking emotion and.. oomph.
I plan to try and come back to it, but I couldn't make it through the end. I found myself rereading whole sections, unable to hold on to what was happening. (

First, let me say that I was given an early reviewer copy of this in exchange for an honest review (through the LibraryThing Early Reviewer program).

I could not get into this book. The premise sounded amazing, but the writing needed a lot more editing. A lot a lot more editing. The style was choppy and the characters felt wooden. Not recommended at all. (
