A slightly dated yet fun read about the creation of a fictional next gay mecca. The writing was solid and smooth. The way that Mr. Storandt wove all of the small stories of the residents and new comers together gave the story the energy to plow on through to the end. It felt real and each character counted. Don't go looking for explicit sex because it was all implied perfectly. Perhaps not everyone's cup of tea but I sure had fun reading this gem. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
When gay developers from New York, fed up with Provincetown's distance and Fire Island's crowds, stumble across the idyllic but run-down seaside town of Long Spit a plan is hatched to turn the town into the newest gay destination. The arrival of the first muscle-bound vacationers causes a stir in the quiet town, and the opening of the first gay bar sets off a storm of protest. Are the invaders corrupting the town's youth or are they bringing in much-needed cash to this forgotten village? An uproarious send-up of small town provincialism and contemporary gay culture.
