Against her father's wishes, twenty-year-old January Cooper elopes with her high school sweetheart and leaves for a fairytale honeymoon in Europe. Two weeks later, she's a widow, abandoned by her husband's family and too ashamed to contact hers. She works her way across the continent, scared but determined to make it on her own. Renowned food and travel blogger Diederik DeVries arrives in his native Amsterdam and hears rumors of a Ghost Lover who has supposedly left a trail of broken hearts all over Europe. A chance encounter with an American girl named Jan leaves him wondering if she could be this elusive legend. Despite her fears of falling in love again, January is just as intrigued with the charming and handsome Diederik. Though he is determined to discover her true identity, she refuses to tell him anything about her past. All he wants is to break down the walls of her hidden heartache to find the real woman within. But will the ghosts of January's past take her away from him before he ever gets that chance?… (meer)

This is a nice story about a girl named January who leaves home against her father's wishes and marries her high school boyfriend, only to be in a fatal car accident in Europe. When January awakens from her coma she is all alone in Europe, and feels as if she can't go home. She drifts from town to town and job to job, feeling as if it is her fault her husband died, even though he was the one on drugs. She finally meets someone special, only to be called home by her father's illness. But her someone special is the one - he follows her home. I enjoyed the story, it was fast paced and did not delve too much into details. It was a bit contrite in spots, and I didn't think the veiled political references were necessary, but it did lend the story a feel of happening in the current world. I am providing this review in exchange for a free copy of the book. I look forward to sampling more of Ms. Parker's work. ( )

This is a sweet book about a girl named January who becomes a widow at a very young age. She then travels around Europe dating and dumping her share of men. I liked this book but I felt like the author just glossed over a few things and didn’t address some issues. ( )

A very sweet romance about a girl named January who lost her husband in an accident and then wanders around Europe. She meets and dates men and then leaves them until she meets the one that really matters to her. I enjoyed this book. ( )

I enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. I thought it had a little bit of everything. It has romance but it was kept pretty clean. I loved hearing about some of the places I've been fortunate enough to visit. I loved Mysti's style of writing and can't wait to read another book by her. ( )

I just finished reading this sweet, warm story by Mysti Parker. January Cooper had an unfulfilled childhood with the early demise of her mother and her father's reclusive nature after his wife's death. Excited about new experiences in life, she rushes into marriage with her college sweetheart, Dylan. At the tender age of 20 tragedy strikes when a car accident kills her new husband and causes Jan to slip into a coma. 2 years later, the ghosts of her past haunts her as she skips town to town avoiding relationships and attempts to reconcile with her father. While in Amsterdam she meets Diederik DeVries, a travel and food blogger who is curious about the stories of ghost lover. From there on the book explores their relationship and Jan's secret. The first two chapters were fast-paced and I was lost for a while, but it was necessary to rush the beginning because the author dedicates enough time to develop the rest of the story. This was the first book I've read by Mysti Parker and it certainly won't be the last. I just wish that the story was longer.
**I was provided an ARC by the author. ( )
