This is a fun story that has a wide variety of characters, including Pirate Barnacle Black Ear, baddest bunny of all time, and his son Henry, who is a academic bunny. They sail on the Salty Carrot and when the ship runs into trouble, Henry is able top help everyone survive due to his knowledge from his books. The book is an easy read and the colorful pictures add to the interest of the story line. Henry is the son of Barnacle Black Ear, the captain and one of the fiercest of the Buccaneer Bunnies. Unfortunately, Henry prefers reading to pirating despite his father's pressure to participate in the pirate life. Once a storm arrives, Henry's reading soon proves its worth. A large portion of the fun in this titles comes from the details - lots of pirate talk and tidbits, but also several references that older readers and parents might recognize such as "Rabbitson Crusoe" and the tatoo of a cabbage named Beatrix on Calico Jack Rabbit's arm. Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies is a funny, light read which also promotes reading and libraries. Review: "Henry and the Buccaneer Bunnies" is a picture book that portrays a pirate ship full of bunnies including one named Henry who loves to read. His father is the captain of the ship and he does not like that Henry is not inspired by the life of a pirate. Throughout the story, the things that Henry has read become very useful and the captain and his crew learn a new appreciation for reading. Genre: Fantasy Genre Critique: This book is an example of fantasy because it contains animals that can talk and read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
