Slimani shows history's effects on an extended family in post WWII through the 60s in Morocco, particularly the women. I enjoyed the variety of the characters and the settings. I found the end ambiguous and unresolved. This is the second book in a proposed trilogy so perhaps that is why. ( ) The second volume of a proposed trilogy, which I read immediately after volume 1. I enjoyed the first volume, and enjoyed this one even more. I think the author is growing as she writes. The life of the family, and the life of Morocco, warts and all, continue to engage the reader. This is fine historical fiction, and I'm eagerly looking forward to the publication of the promised third volume. 1968.
