Reminiscent of Christopher Nolan's Memento, Luna has to solve the mystery of a flying serial killer despite having difficulty remembering events from page to page. She even realizes that she is an unreliable narrator who has to be considered a prime suspect, echoing back to one of her prime OCD fears.
Frankly, the most interesting parts of this book are the chapter interstitials where Luna tries to list all the people in real life and fiction who can or have flown. The extended listings evolve and take her through a more interesting arc than her reactions to the thriller tropes dumped in between them.
I get the impression the writer didn't put much effort into the actual plot as he was so obsessed with the inner life of Luna's mental illnesses. The guns and gore and metaphysical crap were just added in an attempt to make the mental health study commercial enough to get published. Perhaps aiming for Russell Crowe's A Beautiful Mind but ending up with Mel Gibson's Conspiracy Theory. ( )
