This was a very simple and cute poem about the months. This poem is literally a sentence that personifies months and uses pictures to depict what the author is saying about the certain months. I feel like i would read this book to a Pre-K or kinder garden class because it would help them with memorizing the months and the seasons. This was a very cute poem that had rhythm and flowed very well. ( )

This book is one short poem spread through the entire book. It mentions every month and a reason why that month is so special or what that month reminds that person of. Its very simple, but still very cute for students that are learning the moths of the year and possibly seasons, as certain moths begin different seasons. ( )

In this cute little book about the different months of the year, a little girl shows us what it's like and what she does during each month. In April, she is wearing a rain coat and rain boots while stepping over a puddle. This can be helpful to students since they learn that in April it is more likely to rain. In June, she swims. During the summer, I often swim too. This book not only shows children the different months of the year, but it gives them something that they can relate to. However, during December she says that it's her favorite time of the year because of snow sledding. Here in Louisiana, it does not snow very often. And if it does, it is not nearly enough to go sledding. This book can be very helpful to young children by reading and seeing what happens during the different times of the year. ( )

In Calendar, a little girl goes through all the months in a year and says what she does. The book starts off with January, which is cold, and ends with December, which is the girl’s favorite because of sleds, snow, and Santa Claus. In March, all the winter ice is melted, in June, the sun is out and it is a perfect time for swimming, in July, there are picnics, and in August, the girl celebrates her birthday. Colorful, collage like illustrations helps the readers dig deeper as to what the girl does each month. For example, in February, during Valentine’s Day, the girl makes a heart banner, in April, it rains a lot, so she wears rain boots, a jacket, and a rain hat. In July, colorful fireworks are shown filling the air, and in September, the start of school arrives, and a bus is pulling up as the girl is holding her parent’s hand. During October, the little girl is dressed as a witch and carries a broom while wearing roller skates. With minimal words, Calendar allows readers to reflect on what they do during months, as well as, seeing what the little girl does during the year. The illustrations let the readers dig deeper and see what is going on around her. A nice book to teach students the different months, how the weather/ seasons change, and what sorts of events are happening during the year. ( )
