The rest are disposable follies. The edition is a bit of a mess with some spelling errors and paragraph breaks mid-sentence. ( ) A story written 100 years ago that still feels relevant today. Forster creates a believable future world where humanity has outsourced almost all facets of life to machines. Human society largely exists underground, with people living in self-sustaining pods, with machines to provide for our every need, from food to entertainment to video communication with friends and relatives. Overtime, humanity has become completely dependent on the machines that provide for us, and shun human to human interaction over sitting in our pods staring into our devices for quick entertainment...Sound familiar? The story follows a Mother and son who live in separate pods, the son has always been troublesome and only becomes more so as he grows into a man. The mother worries for him but when he becomes obsessed with the outside world and wants to see for himself she has to shun him, she feels, to protect her self and her way of life. This story is a must read for anyone living in the modern age. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
