When I first saw this book I thought the printer did the author dirty. The front cover was unclear and the colors looked washed out, and smudged. Turns out the quality was on par for the rest of the book.
The majority of the short stories I found to be interesting, and the writing quality does improve as you go. There was a wide range of subjects, mainly romance plotlines set within other genres. This is a good starter book for anyone wanting to get into reading, or with a low reading level.
Over all I didn't enjoy the book. It's not a bad book, but not one I would recommend to friends or family. ( )

I really wanted to like this book. I was chosen to receive this book as part of LibraryThing's early reviewer program. The book, a collection of twelve short stories, is one of three that Ms. Croxton has published in early 2022. I csan only hope the other two benefitted from a good editor's touch. Ms. Croxton admits that many of these dozen stories were first written as class projects. In this reader's opinion, they should have stayed there. I applaud anyone who wants to write, and can put in the effort to not only get the stories written, but published as well. But for me, the first ten stories came up wanting. Too much repetition, too much "telling" instead of "showing." The last two stories, "Mirror Image" and "Island of Aktesh" actually read more like adult fiction. I enjoyed "Mirror Image" and liked "Island of Aktesh," but two stories out of ten do not make for a good collection. I avoid reading other people's reviews before I post my own, but I did look the author up on Amazon and found that this collection got just one star. I guess I'm not the only one who was disappointed.

I don’t even know where to start with this book… it was actually painful to read. The grammar was atrocious, the writing was very immature, and there was an extreme amount of redundancy. Some of the endings had no closure. And some of the stories were ridiculously nonsensical. With that being said, I do think that several of these stories have great potential with some editing and extreme revisions. ( )

Nope. I tried, I really really tried to like these short stories. Unfortunately, they fell flat and I couldn't finish the book. I was like did an adult write these for adults? It truly seemed like a kid was writing these short stories.
