Continuing his profound analysis of the war's strategy and command that he began with Herman Hattaway in "How the North Won". I found his explanation of the Army Raid method of Grant and Sherman very enlightening. There are no citations. This is not a problem for me as far as factual backup, I trust anything Archer Jones has to say. But it was frustrating to read an interesting quote without being able to reference the source for possible deeper study. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Jones analyzes the conduct of the American Civil War. He argues that Presidents Lincoln and Davis, and their Generals, showed a firm grasp of established military strategy as well as an ability to innovate. He believes the war was decided by strategic skill rather than industrial might. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
