Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I won a paperback version of this book through LibraryThing. If you enjoy ancient worlds, traditions, and fantasy then you should definitely be reading this. I was a little worried reading this one first until I realized that it is actually, more or less, the backstory. The author paints a world easily believable and hard to put down. Before you know it you will be transported to another place where Druids walk among you and legends and fables come true. Make sure it is on your summer reading list! Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I really enjoyed the book. I’d recommend to my friends. I didn’t read the first one however so I plan to get it as well! Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. This was an interesting story, and even though I did not read book one, it was very easy to follow. I would have liked to read more about the actual druid practices other than the mating ritual. Will look for book 3 to see how the druids vs Christians turns out.Deze bespreking is geschreven voor LibraryThing Vroege Recensenten. I read this book and really enjoyed it! I liked the characters and the author's writing style. I found the story quite interesting and engaging and I'd like to see more from this author! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Llwddawanden is a hidden sanctuary where remnants of a once-powerful pagan cult carry on their ancient ritual practices, supported by a small but faithful following of servants, craftsmen, and laborers. Cut off from the outside world by both geography and conviction, the Druids of Llwddawanden continue to venerate the Great Mother Goddess and to view themselves as the first-born and favorite of Her mortal children. While the belief that the most important of all divine beings gave birth to their ancestors and that Her spirit inhabits the body of their highest priestess is a tenuous conclusion in view of their reduced lot in life, the Druids of Llwddawanden believe it and are, for the most part, committed to carrying on the traditions handed down to them by their forbears. Herrwn, the shrine's chief priest and master bard, has the responsibility of overseeing the education of Caelym, the orphaned son of the cult's previous chief priestess, as well as keeping the peace within the upper ranks of their order--two tasks that grow more difficult as the rivalry over which of the three highest priests will claim Caelym as his disciple grows, and as mounting conflicts between the current chief priestess and her only living daughter threaten to rend the fabric of a society that has endured for more than a millennium. My only issue with this book was that the pronunciation key is located at the back of the book. I spent far too long mispronouncing the word Llwddawanden in my head until I found that. :) But overall I really enjoyed this book and will be looking forward to reading the next. ( )
