The dog is trying to bounce like a bunny. Then tires to bounce like a frog. The dog bounces like a dancer as well. The dog is talking about how bees and bats bounce at certain time of the day. The dog shows how you can bounce a ball in different ways. The dog goes on to show different ways of bouncing but then says that its better to have fun then not to have any at all. Books show that it is fun to act like a fool and have fun. ( )

I had mixed feelings about this book. While it was certainly cute at face value, it had absolutely no message or idea (other than, bouncing is fun), or—really—any point. It would be incredibly entertaining for younger readers. The language could give way to an incredibly interesting lesson, in which the students read and follow along with the actions in the story. The language itself is incredibly age-appropriate for young readers, especially for those that are just beginning to read. It uses repetitive words and phrases, which could easily make this book a good shared reading option. Additionally, I thought the illustrations would absolutely capture and keep the attention of young students. I really appreciate the simplicity of them, as well as the addition of real life photographs. I found that aspect of the illustrations to be new and interesting—that mixture is not often seen. Overall, the book was entertaining and I could see it being used in a lesson, but it was incredibly situational and only appropriate for students under six or seven. ( )

This fun little story of a dog bouncing from page to page. He urges you to follow him along as he hops, plops, leaps and bounces urging kids to get up and get active. You can bounce in the sun bounce in the shade, bounce durning the night and even the day. He takes you through puddles and holes all while engaging the readers and kids to play along. The fun ending urges kids; "its better to have bounced and bumped...than never to have bounced at all!"
The formatting of the book is fun and active. The sentences go up down and all around as the text and fonts vary throughout. This can be fun for kids as it keeps them looking and following the story page by page.
