I received a free copy of Burning America by G. Mick Smith for Review. The book follows the attempts by Paul Theus to get custody of his daughter, Kaitrin, after his wife, Anne, leaves taking Kaitrin with her. The custody battle went on for years and was never resolved within the judicial system before tragedy struck.
Determining what is best for the child involved in a custody case should not take years. When one or both parties lie or manipulate the system no one wins. And the child suffers.
This was an interesting book although it was uncomfortable to see the lengths people will go to in order to keep custody of a child - or prevent the other parent from gaining custody. It opened my eyes to the many problems in family court and custody battles. Hopefully, this book will help improve the family courts and better protect the children.

I wasn't sure I would take to this book as it wasn't my usual genre, but just goes to show that if you wonder outside your comfort zone you might find a little piece of treasure.
A striped bare, no frills added account of what happens when one parent decides to do the wrong things, and to the point that it's about hurting the other parent, and child as much as possible. And the legal system just doesn't do anything for the child, and makes people sad and hurt. I wouldn't say it had a bad ending, I would say karma came knocking. Great work of art, leaving you feeling sorry for all the terrible situations out their ( )

Burning America: In The Best Interest Of The Children? by G. Mick Smith

Paul Theus finds a note that his wife left with their daughter Kaitrin, moving across the country. As Paul fights for his paternal rights, he is faced with many legal challenges. Also learning his daughter is not under the best care, he is fighting for her well being. Many struggles and life events occur as he continues his quest for justice, and the return of his daughter.

A thought-provoking read, that had me question our legal justice system. Who truly cares about our children? The Courts, Lawyers, Doctors, Teachers, Parents? ( )

Do the courts really act in the best interest of the children?

Parents plan for their children’s home, school, clothes, food, and happiness but once the Theus’ five-year daughter is kidnapped we are barraged by conflict for over three years until the terminal end.

Is the terminal ending tragic or the only possible resolution to the conflict? ( )

I read your book and I am impressed. You need to continue on with a sequel.

My friend, Jolene, has started the book and said "you can tell it's written from the ❤heart".

Thank you Mick Smith for this poignant tale of parenting gone wrong. And ultimately, parenting gone right. This is a MUST READ!

Quite a story but very well done. Brought up many sad memories remembering how our daughter suffered and still is suffering at the loss of her daughter. It is hard to believe if you did not go through similar problems. Lawyers, Judges, and child care people should be so sorry for putting children and some parents through this hell.

Great Read !
Wonderful book that every parent should read to know the importance of having both parents involved harmoniously in a child's life. The experience this dad and his young daughter endured for years is lost quality time and it leads to painful memories that negatively impact in their adult life.
