I really enjoyed this book even if I ended up skim-reading many of the sex scenes (yes there is such a thing as too much sex in a good novel- it is truly a balance and this one tipped into too much - but then that is what skimming is for)
Aside from that it was a lovely read - with interesting character growth (Shut-It - to those reviewers who whined about self-pity - when a person is going through a traumatic experience there are stages and this author did an excellent job of portraying that - been there lived that - so shut up). Context and world-building are nicely balanced and presented and the plot for this book was neatly snuggled into a developing overarching plot for the series. I think. ( )

I loved the first book and went without sleep to read this one.

Again, great characters. Sylvia was GREAT! Love her and Ward's interactions. Mason continues to be adorable and loveable. Oh, and Hart is a trip!

One thing that surprised me about the end of book one was that they didn't magically "fix" Ward. I appreciated that they let him have this change and grow and live with it. It wasn't swept under the rug, ignored or magically reversed. It wasn't something Ward automatically adjusted to. I appreciated we see him deal with the trauma of what happened and adjusted to his new circumstances.

Over all, another good book. The mystery that came with this one was creepy like the first book. I liked seeing more of Ward's abilities. ( )
