I thoroughly enjoyed the box set of Regency Rumors is an engaging mystery. Juliet Sinclair is the lone survivor of her family which was accused of being traitors. She must disprove the rumor in order to clear the names of her father and older brother and in order to secure her future. But what if the rumor is true? Already one suitor has deserted her. Although the setting for this mystery is near London in the early 19th century, the story is told in easy-to-understand modern language (no two-page sentences full of commas and semicolons). I see this series as good for someone who wants to read about ladies in long dresses who ride in carriages without having to decipher archaic vocabulary and muddle through sentence structures used by persons actually living back then. The action in this three book series is well paced and there are adequate surprises in the story to keep the reader engaged. Each book has its own cast of sinister characters and twisty turns along with a few characters who tag along in each book. If you want all of the answers, you have to read all three books. If you love books with sequels, this series is for you. There was one innuendo in Book 1 between married minor characters near the end of the book, but this book is free from graphically intimate scenes. The language is clean. I greatly appreciated not being dragged into the gutter. I was provided a complimentary version of this box set to review. I give this set 4 stars. I reserved a star because of the innuendo and some editorial mishaps. When I finished this series, I was reluctant to say good-bye to the cast of characters. Perhaps there may be a follow-on trilogy. I hope so. There are some Sinclair Society novellas about secondary characters. ( )

I thought long and hard about how to review The Sinclair Society series and if you want all of the answers, you have to read all three books. The author did a good job building the suspense throughout the series.

Regency Rumors a gripping, suspenseful story is a great beginning for this new series and regency mystery, in which we are introduced to Juliet Sinclair a.k.a. Julie Nelson who is a determined, bold, impulsive and daring young woman that has decided to investigate the rumors that destroyed her family name. Juliet inadvertently takes a job as a ladies maid in a household that may provide the details to the demise of her brother and parents. Now on to book two as Juliet continues the search for her brother’s killer.

The Debutante now finds Juliet as a ladies maid in Bath continuing to try and solve the mystery. Here the confusion increases as now there is a possibility of three killers, Conrad, Daniel, and Oswyn. Juliet goes toe-to-toe with each one until the end cliff-hanger.

Clarendon Estate now finds Juliet hired as a ladies maid to Lady Celia Leith as she continues the search of her brother’s killer. In the conclusion the plot thickens, and tensions rise as all three suspects come together. Will Juliet survive to discover the killer? Hold on to your seats for the nail-biting climax!

Overall The Sinclair Society Series is a well written Regency Mystery that kept me turning the pages, written by a very talented writer. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to read this awesome series. ( )

Five years after Miss Juliet Sinclair’s brother supposedly died from illness and her parents from a carriage accident, she hears rumors that traitors in her family had been selling secrets to the French. Determined to clear her family’s name, gently-born Juliet inadvertently gets hired as a lady’s maid. Posing as the lady’s maid “Julie Nelson,” she uncovers secret after secret and begins to realize the political intrigue around her runs much deeper than she could have imagined. Although the narrative is sometimes a little slow, and the character of Juliet herself is occasionally annoying, the plot line is interesting, and I found myself wanting to keep reading. Book three concludes with loose ends and the suggestion that more adventures await “Julie Nelson.” For fans of the Regency era, this box set provides enough of the fashion, manners, and history we love without dipping into certain elements of the romance genre, making it recommendable even to younger readers. The first part of the book was quite fun to read. Interesting information about the life of a chambermaid. The heroine of the story Julie, sentenced to a limited life as was usual for more well-to-do young ladies at the time, finds herself in a completely different situation due to the story's entanglements.We sympathize with the determined young woman who knows how to stand her ground and unravel the mystery that is driving her family to the abyss.
