William searched frantically for something to say for himself and, rather ti his surprise, found it.
"Well I only did what you said we'd gotter do," he said.
"And what do you mean by that?" said Miss Milton sternly.
"I gave 'em somethin' to remember for the rest of their lives," said William.
This book from 1965 contains stories that had featured in other books in the Just William series.
As usual William gets into lots of trouble in this book, as foolish adults insist on involving him in pageants and play rehearsals, but he and his friends also go out of their way to help one of their adult friends win the prize for cucumbers at the local flower show. My favourite stories in this book are "William Enters Politics" and "The Outlaws and the Cucumber". ( )
