In celebration of the one hundredth anniversary of Friedrich von Hayek's birth, Liberty Fund and the Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago present The Legacy of Friedrich von Hayek, a DVD series of seven lectures from outstanding scholars of Hayek's work. The host and moderator for the lectures is the Chairman of the Committee on Social Thought, Professor Robert Pippin. Volume 4: Hayek, Radical Reactionary Lord Ralph Harris, Founder President, Institute of Economic Affairs Lord Harris was born in London in 1924 and graduated from Cambridge in 1947. He lectured at St. Andrews University until 1957. He then became the General Director of the Institute of Economic Affairs and was joined in 1958 by Arthur Seldon as Editorial Director. Together they wrote studies of advertising, hire purchase, state and private welfare, and other applications of classical liberal analysis to public policy. They helped rehabilitate the classical liberal tradition of market microanalysis. In 1979, he was made a life peer by Margaret Thatcher, and he sits on the cross-benches as Lord Harris of High Cross.
