"Too Much Talk" is basically an African folk tale about inanimate objects that speak. The book starts out following an African farmer who sets out to dig up some yams. The yam speaks to the farmer and the farmer freaks out. After that, the farmer encounters other village residents who ask him why he is running around in the heat of the day. When he tells them why, other inanimate objects begin to speak such as a fish, water and a chair. All of the individuals get scared and they eventually find themselves telling their story in front of the village chief. The village chief dismisses their claims, and as the farmer and the rest of the individuals run off, the chief's chair begins to talk, and of course the chief freaks out, runs away and was never heard from again.

I made little mini-puppets on popsicle sticks of the talking objects. When it was time for that object to "talk" i brought the object out from around my back and it peeked over the top of the book to "talk". Kids seemed to like the book, and enjoyed doing to the "Aiyeee!" part w/ me, and making hand motions for uphill and downhill, and downhill and uphill. ( )
