I'm so confused about whether or not I read the same book as some of yall.. This was so wildly predictable and the characters were insufferable. Like, I'm sorry but the way the audiobook narrator voiced Chloe and Evie made me want to throw up. The one thing that always kills me with thrillers is how cheesey and uninteresting everything becomes once the twists are revealed. Once I had the slightest inkling of how this book was going to turn out (which was around the 60% mark) I started to lose all interest. Maybe I'm just not a thriller girly but this wasn't for me. ( ) DNF at 58%. As so many others have already said, this is a horrible book. The writing is horrible, the story is horrible, and the characters are the most horrible of all. I was going back and forth about whether I wanted to finish this. Could there be some great twist that would make it worth it? But at the halfway point I couldn’t take it anymore. The anger spikes were coming more frequently than Chloe’s BS or Joanne’s “beetroot” flashes. Decided it was time to read some spoiler reviews to see if I was truly wasting my time. The answer was obviously “Yes!” Richard is the ultimate gaslighter. And if the spoilers are true, he’s an even worse human being for it than your typical manipulator. Chloe is the Devil’s mistress who probably even annoys the lord of the underworld. And I’m racking my brain to think of a more spineless twat MC than Joanne. So far, I’m coming up short.
