"The gripping new Jack Reacher thriller from the #1 New York Times bestselling authors Lee Child and Andrew Child. The plan: It's coming Fall 2022. No Plan B. In Gerrardsville, Colorado, two witnesses to the same tragedy give two different accounts. One guy sees a woman throw herself in front of a bus in what authorities will call a suicide. The other witness is Jack Reacher. And he sees what actually happened: A man in a gray hoodie and jeans, moving like a shadow, pushed the victim to her death-before swiftly grabbing the dead woman's purse and strolling away. Reacher follows the killer on foot, not knowing that he is part of something much bigger and far-reaching . . . a secret conspiracy with many moving parts, with powerful people on the take, all involved in an undertaking that leaves no room for error. If any step is compromised, the threat will have to be quickly and quietly and permanently removed. Because when the threat is Reacher, there is No Plan B..."--… (meer)

Andrew does not tell the story the same way as Lee used to. You can see the difference in the tone, or something... The story is, however, pretty typical Reacher. So... I will continue to read about Reacher, though I miss the old tone which was more no-nonsense, get 'er done and now it is ... more... titillating, maybe? ( )

A woman dies under the wheels of a bus, and Jack Reacher sees it happen. The police rule it an accident even though Reacher says it wasn’t. Meanwhile, a foster boy is searching for his birth dad. And at a prison, some shady things are going on. And a young man dies when he shouldn’t have. Yes, eventually all things tie together, but it’s a long time before that happens. Gruesome killings, torture, and unethical behavior make up the bulk of this story. The mystery of what’s going on lasts too long. Not my cup of tea or coffee. By the time the authors pulled the story into its conclusion, I just wanted it to end and I didn’t really care how. ( )

I've read better Jack Reacher novels. Yes there is the usual action with Reacher getting out of impossible situations. Having said that, I did not finish this book. Not sure I'll read any more Jack Reacher novels again. To many books and not enough time. ( )

This was a very exciting and fast-paced Jack Reacher book. In my opinion, the best since Andrew Child started writing with his father on this long-running series. Jack is in Colorado when he witnesses what appears to be an accident at first. A woman appears to throw herself under a moving bus. Upon reflection, Jack realizes that it was no accident, so he sets out to right a wrong. His search takes him across the country to Mississippi, and it appears that the conspiracy and the crime ring is more wide-spread and dangerous than he first thought. His search takes him to a prison in the heart of Mississippi, and the bodies keep piling up. A lot of the bodies are the result of Reacher himself. Along with the help of a grieving widow from Colorado, Reacher takes on the crime ring and cleans house as he goes along. Sounds like a normal Jack Reacher, right? Well, this is a bit more complex than that. The extent of the crimes, and the body count attached make this a full-scale operation, and the only one who can bring it down is Reacher himself. a complex operation that places Reacher and his companion in very grave danger. The story proceeds at a breakneck pace until the final seconds of the book. I really love this series, and can't wait to read the next one. ( )
