Book 1 ???? It's probably better to read this as a standalone, rather than as part of a series.

Grayson and Laura initially fall in lust rather than love and the circumstances of their marriage are rather ridiculous. This is a very raunchy book, as might be expected but there is a reasonable story as well.

I bought the kindle version of this book because I'd read Roping the Wind" and thought this was a sequel, I wanted to read Grayson's story.

In fact it's listed as Book 1 of 3 Turner Brother series. Which doesn't make sense. I probably shouldn't take it this seriously. But if you write a series with characters that carry over from one book to the next, you should at least try to maintain continuity.

In this book Grayson has long since chucked in his city job and is established on his ranch and in the local community. And while he is in a business partnership with his brother Jay, he is not reconciled with him.

But in Roping the Wind, which is supposedly book 2, Grayson is in the process of quitting his city job and has not moved to his ranch. He's reconciled with his brother, but is not in business with him as Jay wants to go it alone ( )

While this was okay, I felt let down after reading Roping the Wind. I guess my expectations were too high. While Gray is really great...something was missing. I also didn't enjoy the time in San Fran nearly as much as up in Oregan. Oh and the parts with Jay in them didn't work at all with the timeline from Roping the Wind. (Which just annoyed me). ( )
