From a historical viewpoint, it didn't prepare me for the mess that was Moscow in 1995-1996. Some of the things that I saw were not covered in the contents pages 3 and 4. I remember the time in a bar of the Arbat when I had to look quickly at the Small Talk section on page 31 when I was threatened by an Armenian tattooed thug. There was no translation for "That Swedish guy over there spilled your drinks....". I got hit. My copy still has my bloodstain. Oh.....Подмосковные Вечера!
