A really strong Civil War tie-in mainly focused on SHIELD and Agent 13's response to Cap's insurgency. I'm particularly glad I read it for the included Winter Soldier: Winter Kills story. This story is amoving Bucky story - flashing back to his time in the War and a current adventure with a group of the Young Avengers. Great stuff from the height of the Brubaker Cap run. (

As a previous reviewer mentioned, this trade has a very uneven feel to it. If you haven't followed the events of the Marvel Civil War before reading Captain America #22-24 (which are collected in this trade), then the plot is disjointed and doesn't pack much of a punch to it.

The Winter Kills one-shot included in this trade, however, is great. It gives a nice depth to the character of Bucky, who spends his Christmas Eve reminiscing about his past. (

An uneven volume. The ongoing plot must suddenly play second fiddle to the civil war and, as a result, everything winds up feeling muddled and short-shrifted. The included “Winter Kills” one-shot, on the other hand, is excellent: a melancholy little Christmas story in which the Winter Soldier pays tribute to his past while also trying to figure out his place in the world today.
