Halloween Join the rollicking fun as a giant pumpkin is set loose and wreaks havoc on a family farm. As it makes its getaway, the pumpkin bumps along ‘round and ‘round. What will they do? Lucky for everyone, Poppa knows the answer to their problem. The Bottom Line: This humorous, rhyming story is perfect for reading aloud. Kids ages PreK – Grade 1 will want to join in the fun. The comical, colorful illustrations make this a great pick for story time. Highly recommended for libraries and schools. This review also appears at the Mini Book Bytes Book Review Blog. This is a great Halloween story of a giant pumpkin falling down a hill and past people on a farm, as it passes people think of the dishes they cook with it like pies, bread etc. They next had to squeeze it in the door and made dinner with it. WRITING PROMPTS: use as an introduction to pumpkin patch field trip, ask them to pretend they were in the story and say what dish they would make i personally loved the illustrations and went back through the book to enjoy them more, I would ask the students to chose a picture and write the story they see Two boys and their sister found a big pumpkin on a hill and the two boys decided that they wanted it. So the boys cut it and it went rolling down the hill. When the pumpkin passed by the kids mother, she thought of granny's pumpkin pie but it kept rolling down. Then it rolled to the kids grandfather, he thought of granny's pumpkin soup, but it rolled on by. Then it was coming to the kid's father, he thought of granny's pumpkin bread and he made a pumpkin bed for the pumpkin to stop in its tracks. Then granny had made all of her special dishes. Books show that something bad can turn into something good at the end. I could use this in my class by reading a few pages and then asking my students what they think will happen next or what they think they would have done in that situation. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
The Baxter brothers find a wonderful pumpkin for Halloween, but first they must catch up with it when it rolls down the hill. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
