While their lives diverged atvarious points, their commitments to each other and the next generationremained strong. The sisters' stories illustrate theimportance of family and community relationships as support structuresfor women entrepreneurs who combine family responsibilities with earninga living. While they were not heroic in the traditional, patriarchalsense of the word, the Lindhard sisters were powerful, influentialmembers of their families and their community, and their lives revealmuch about the complex social fabric of early British Columbia and theunsung contributions of women.… (meer)
