He is employed by an American to steal two out of a set of the Three Wise Monkeys, but now has to prove that he wasn't the one who beat up his employer to the point where he later died of his injuries. Fun idea spoiled by poor ebook formatting (random hyphenation presumably carried over from where necessary in the print edition) and bad editing (many homophone mistakes). This doesn't convince me that I need to add it to the many series I've got on the go. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

HTML: Charlie Howard doesn't just write books about a career thief, he also happens to be one. In Amsterdam working on his latest novel, Charlie is approached by a mysterious American who asks him to steal two apparently worthless monkey figurines from two separate addresses on the same night. At first, he says no. Then he changes his mind. Only later, kidnapped and bound to a chair, the American very dead, and a spell in police custody behind him, does Charlie begin to realize how costly a mistake he might have made. The police think he killed the American. Others think he knows the whereabouts of the elusive third monkey. But for Charlie only three things matter. Can he clear his name? Can he get away with the haul of a lifetime? And can he solve the gaping plot hole in his latest novel? .Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

And I totally called the murderer. It seems that Ewan's work mirrors that of his character (or maybe vice versa) in that you can see the murderer a mile away. There were a few things that threw me for a loop, but the insanely long delivery time was both cliched and boring.
The book wasn't terrible, it was an okay read most of the way through, but it really petered out toward the end in a disappointing and long winded way. ( )
