Some good vintage pictures ( ) If you want to see what this book is like at its best, look-at and read the first four pages of chapter 7, on New Mexico. The author doesn't sustain this magical prose style throughout the book (who could?), but it'll give you a taste of what this book aims for and, in many places, achieves. Chapter 10, the book's final, is a little anticlimactic. Titled "Mother Road Revival", the chapter's first 6 pages are truly interesting, but then the author takes the reader all the way back to Illinois, for a whirlwind recapitulation of the entire trip, following the same format and style as the preceding 9 chapters, only updating some of the information. It was actually a little tedious! Like completing a pleasurable, but very long road trip, and then immediately repeating the journey! Still, a fun book. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
