What to do when the sun's too-hot and the tongue's hanging out and the sweat's pouring down? Get wet! Whatever wet you can find will do you fine.... The pictures are delightful; the remind me a bit of Wood's Napping House. The text is even juicier: though not a poem proper, with definitely no rhyme, there's a cadence that speaks right to the joy of summertime. It must be read aloud to be appreciated. Wet Dog is very hot one day and finds ways to cool down. The dog finds a man cleaning his car, a lady washing her dishes, and men playing by a the lake, and he decides to jump right in their water. They all get mad at him and tell him to go home. Finally, he jumps in a lake and he sees a baby. She is laughing and enjoying the company of the dog. All of the guests cheer for the dog for creating a party! This book would be a great read aloud for younger readers. It is very repetitive and fun! This book tells about Living Things, a dog, who is searching for a cool spot and is continually turned away until a baby accepts him. It has some feeling but can better be used for its unique punctuation and sound words. A text innovation on this book could include telling a story about an animal in your own life and continually using the same adjectives to describe the animal. Repetition and the use of onomatopoeia words as well as dashes and elipses are helpful in effectively crafting the writing. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
