second in Lucas Davenport series. Very good as always. About murderer who is a pathologist and has obsession about eyes of his victims staying with him unless he mutulates them.

Solidly written. Fills out the background on Lucas Davenport working for the Minneapolis police department. Davenport is chasing a serial killer responsible for gouging eyes out, and while there's a witness who saw the first murder, Loverboy, he refuses to come forward. How many people have to die before Davenport connects the dots? ( )

I read this one in a volume with the first three davenport stories and found them troubling. All three involved serial killers and in all three the killer came after a woman Lucas was involved with and in all three our hero goes nuts out of control. Nope. I started with book #26,which I got from a little free library and thought I liked the guy, but nope. ( )

I've read the first book of this series, and didn't like Lucas Davenport that much. I decided to skip number 2, because I heard this one was better. I liked it better that the first, but still not as much as I had hoped. But I'm judging mostly from his spinoff series about Virgil Flowers, who worked for Davenport. Virgil is a lot less serious than Lucas, but I'm hoping this series will get better.

One thing I didn't like very much was the ending. It was a bit of a surprise, but in a way, there was a lot more importance placed on this character than was needed, so it doesn't matter that much. ( )

The second book in the Prey series was bad, but this is the pits. ( )
