I really wanted to like this because the premise - Alaska is its own country - was so intriguing. The first book in the series wasn't too bad but with each successive book I kept wondering why I had wasted my money (and/or swap points). The language - both content and delivery - is terrible and totally unrealistic on so many levels. The lack of character development did not help; I found I could really care less about few of them. And, of course, the gratuitous sex. All of which makes me so very glad that the author's contract with the publishing company ran out so there will be no more of these. And if there are I certainly won't be reading them. Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. Delighfully funny story of "polar" opposites falling in love while dealing with Royal family issues. Deze bespreking was geschreven voorLibraryThing lid Weggevers. The last book in the Alaskan Royals series was possibly the best one yet. The king discovers he has fathered a daughter he knew nothing about, and once he learns of her he tries to force her into the family fold. She turns out to be just as strong-willed and feisty as he is. Throw in a lot of humor and some romance and you have yourself an excellent read. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

What impressed me: I loved revisiting with the family and all their kooky ways. The Alaskan Royal family series is awesome with alternative history details and great humor, and The Royal Mess absolutely follows the trend.
What disappointed me: The Royal Mess isn't the end of the trilogy as much as a companion novel to the two previous books. It was disappointing to read about a romance between a new couple as opposed to someone already in the family.
Recommended: Yes, but you may want to read the previous two books first to really experience the details. ( )
