With The Everything Kids' Science Experiments Book, all you need to do is gather a few household items and you can recreate dozens of mind-blowing, kid-tested science experiments. High school science teacher Tom Robinson shows you how to expand your scientific horizonsâ??from biology to chemistry to physics to outer space.

You'll discover answers to questions like:

  • Is it possible to blow up a balloon without actually blowing into it?
  • What is inside coins?
  • Can a magnet ever be "turned off"?
  • Do toilets always flush in the same direction?
  • Can a swimming pool be cleaned with just the breath of one person?

Easy to follow experiments with items we already had around the house for many of the experiments. However, a few did call for items we didn’t have like dry ice and chemicals. The book contains sciences experiments in biology, chemistry, physics, planet earth, and the human body. Experiments contain the steps of the scientific methods, materials needed, scientific explanations for what’s happening and words to know. The text is well laid out with pencil drawings and green/purple writing. However, I feel the layout is meant for upper elementary middle school science class or sciences enthusiast due to the lack of dynamic photos and graphic text. This title would not engage a child not interested in science. Some experiments do take several days to complete.
Some experiments had fun facts, jokes, or science online for further learning. I would like to see this title updated with a glossary and dynamic graphics. ( )

This book will help students tap into their curiosity about how things work. It explores the five major areas of Science - Biology, Chemistry, Physics, the Earth and Sky, and the Human Body. There are about five different experiments per area of science(chapter). The book guides them through almost thirty science experiments starting with a question and then leading them through to the actual experiment to find the answer. It offers three levels of experiments: home, lab, and science fair. In each experiment, a list of materials is provided, a detailed procedure, an explanation of what's happening, and a follow-up question.

The layout of the book is nice and easy to use. It includes some fun graphics, puzzles, quotes, and jokes. It also includes a helpful index at the back of the book. This is a great resource tool for students who need to come up with a school science experiment. The book is presented to ages 7 to 12, but would easily adapt to high school students. Great resource! Highly recommended.

Recommended for ages10 and up. ( )

This is a paperback book and very useful for ages eight to twelve. I think it is great for a teacher to use but also great for students to choose science experiments to take home. I gave this book a 5/5 because unlike a lot of science experiment books you do not need to buy lots of materials. The materials are basic things that a child would have in their house. In my class I would like to have a science fair and have each child choose an experiment to do from this book! ( )
