San Souci did an awesome job at portraying Cajun dialect in the text to create this adaptation of a miscounting folklore. The foolish fisherman thought that their friend was dead because he forgot to count himself . I felt the book would be very entertaining for children that like silly stories and to also teach them about common sense and counting. ( ) This story was about six fishermen who were all silly. Six fishermen go fishing on a daily basis in the Bayou, but three of them bring fishing poles and three just bring bait. When a woman tells them they can give bait to someone who has a pole or give a pole to someone who has bait, it does not make sense to them. They misunderstood her and swapped what they had with one another still leaving themselves with just one thing and not the other. They also do this with crawfish pies and coffee and this makes them upset, because they want both. A cajun story about six fisherman who are nothing but foolish. THey forget to bring bait and fishing poles when going fishing and they think one is dead because the person counting all six forgets to count himself in the six, believing there is only five so one is missing. The wife helps them with their foolishness. Genre: Fiction Age(s): 7-9 geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
