Remembering my original impression of van Vogt's books (circa 12 thru 16) I would now classify his works as YA: on that level I'd give most of them 4's & 5'. But, in the light of the 22nd century adult, they come across very simplistic and not terribly engaging. Now I know to whom I should recommend them. ( ) An interesting point about this book is that though this book continued to be published under both titles (The Book of Ptath and Two hundred million A.D.), the author acknowledges only the first title in his own comprehensive listing of his works, and never mentions the second. Too bad van Vogt's not around to ask. The god Ptath is flung into the far future by a deadly rival and given the mind of a 20th century man. Stranded in this alien world, he must fight to regain his powers before the rival goddess sends the world spinning into chaos and darkness. "Van Vogt's work has a raw power that has never been equalled in science fiction".--Damon Knight. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
