'From Where I Stand' is so much more than your average teenage novel. This heart-wrenching book deals with immeasurably real and disturbing human emotions which include, anguish, remorse and depression. The young teen, Raven, deals with the death of his mother, a broken family and foster care. Raven is a very fuming, yet quiet teen dealing with immense issues which no one seems to understand. This deeply troubled teen is brought to a brand new foster family, and to a brand new school. However, all his problems which he has been holding in begin to rise to the surface. He is bullied at school day after day, and beings to repeatedly self-harm. This becomes too much to handle for his new foster family, and they do not know what to do. Things seems as though they cannot get worse, but they do, as Raven becomes obsessed with finding his mother's "murderer" which is a clear indication of his mental state. This is a very dark, emotional tale of a profoundly disturbed teen, and should only be read by those who are ready to be taken on a journey of misery. Strong emotional links between the reader and the gloomy and mysterious character of Raven are formed. No matter how upsetting this novel may be, it is still ever so hard to stop reading. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
