Norma Jean Jumping Bean is a good example of a fantasy book because all the characters in the book are animals. Norma is a kangaroo who likes to jump but gets into a lot of trouble from not being able to control it and finally decides that she will no longer jump. She then learns that jumping is okay sometimes and that there is a time and place for everything

This book was about an animal named Norma Jean that jumped all the time. She jumped up and down on her way to school and in the classroom. At school they had a field day and Norma Jean won the jumping hurdles race and the potato sack race. Norma Jean realized there was a time for jumping and a time not for jumping. This book teaches children about obeying what the teacher tell them to do.

Norma Jean, whose love of jumping might be a bit excessive, stops her favorite activity after her friends complain, but participation in the school Olympics proves there is a time and place for jumping.

This book would be good for k-3rd grade. After reading the book you could ask students what was an activity they really liked to do, and discuss when and where were good places to do that activity. It would also just be a fun book to read to the class.
